We are all interconnected in society- our success, reputation, and prosperity are closely tied to the well-being of our community. In terms of safety, it is not just about increasing policing and building walls but it is also about fostering a sense of positivity and hope in our youth. We should address criminal behavior and mental health issues with appropriate and effective solutions.
We are currently living in a world where the economic divide between our communities is wider than ever before. Those who are the most vulnerable are often those who have limited access to important resources. One of the ways we can improve our community is by reducing poverty and unemployment rates. This can be done by closing the wealth gap and promoting racial equality. Together, we can work towards creating a safer and more equitable community for all.
Access to affordable housing is a significant issue that requires our attention. We must take action to create more housing project for single family, multi-family homes. Buying or renting has both become unaffordable. We need to fund creative solution around land banking and/or utilize Tax Increment Financing (TIF) creatively to increase affordable housing supply. This will help ensure that everyone in the community has access to a safe and affordable place to call home.
Workforce development that provides good opportunities to our youth quickly. We need to create some fast-track program in partnership with technical college that will help provide sustainable income for youth, and fund programs that support minority own business and BIPOC community. By investing in our youth, we are investing in the future of our community.
Ensuring safety for all residents is a pressing concern that must be addressed. To achieve this, we must create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and safe in the district's public spaces and throughout the city. I am committed to engaging with the diverse constituents and working closely with the appropriate departments to make this a reality. We must involve the community in the process of creating a safer environment, and make sure that everyone's voices are heard, and everyone is respected and treated fairly.
The cost of services has become increasingly high due to inflation and the ongoing economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The city's ability to generate revenue through Real Estate Tax is limited by state levy limits, which can make it challenging to fund important projects and initiatives. This is a pressing issue that requires innovative solutions to ensure that we can effectively prioritize the needs and voices of the community through an equity lens. As a public servant, I am committed to working collaboratively with stakeholders to find creative solutions that will allow us to address these challenges and ensure that everyone in the community has access to the services and resources they need.
I am dedicated to the well-being of our elderly and differently abled residents. Our seniors can chose to live independently, but it is our responsibility to ensure their individual needs are met with the best care. I will collaborate with the city to avail best senior services and provide an avenue in the district for them to engage.
I am committed to engaging with the city's planning body to incorporate sustainable efforts that not only create a greener city but also serve as a source of generating employment opportunities. By incorporating sustainable practices in city planning, we can not only reduce our environmental footprint but also create jobs in areas such as renewable energy, green infrastructure, and sustainable transportation. This will not only benefit the environment but also the economy and the community as a whole. I am dedicated to working with the planning body to find ways to integrate sustainability in an effective and efficient way to generate positive impacts in multiple fronts.
